Pahalgam lies 96 Kms east of Srinagar in an idyllic valley surrounded by 12 snow-covered peaks and deep pine forests, at the junction of Sheshnag and Lidder lakes. Originally a small shepherd’s village, it is now a popular holiday spot with good facilities of trekking, Trout fishing, golfing etc. The glorious scenery – majestic mountains, green pine forests, meadows of bright yellow saffron speaks itself. Most of the people going on pilgrimage to Amarnathstarts their trekking from Chandanwari, 16 kms from Pahalgam. Aru is the base point for trekking to Kolhai icy mass, Lidder watt, Kattar and Trasar and Marsar lake.
