Katra can be named as the base camp for the pilgrimage to the Holy place of Mata Vaishnodevi, located at the Trikuta Hills. The walkway to the temple built for the worship of Mata Vaishnodevi extends to a length of 14 Kms. The pilgrim visiting Vaishmo Devi has almost increased to One Crore ( Ten Millions ) in a year. The trekking of Vaishno Devi gives a lot of picturesque sceneries throughout the way. Katra is well connected by road and rail.
